I have been making banana bread for years. As a staple baked good in my family, I have made it many different ways. And I have experimented with a multitude of different recipes. Along the lines, I have come to hold this recipe supreme. In fact, when I went looking for my banana bread recipe the other day, I found two of the same exact recipe in my recipe box. Ha! So needless to say, this recipe is my keeper and is truly the best banana bread!

Detailed instructions:
Step 1:
Preheat oven to 325 and spray non stick spray into a loaf pan. Yes, I did say 325. I have done this many times at 350 and find that it comes out so much better with a slightly lower temperature for a little bit longer.
Step 2:
Mash all bananas and mix in butter, egg, vanilla and sugar. It is advised to use very ripe bananas, the more ripe your banana is the more flavorful this recipe will be.
Step 3:
Add in flour and baking soda and any additions you may have- mix well. You have heard me say it before and I will say it again, MAKE SURE your baking soda is well incorporated and doesn’t have any clumps in the batter. Now, I love walnuts in my banana bread- I know that some do not, but it’s the way to go for me. My husband isn’t the biggest fan, so we compromise and he gets to eat banana bread- with walnuts in it 🙂
Step 4
Pour all ingredients into loaf pan and top as desired (see photo with walnuts and cinnamon topping)
Step 5:
Bake for 1 hour. And remove from oven- test with toothpick to ensure doneness.
Once it is cooled cut and serve. My favorite is with a touch of butter. Enjoy!

April 2, 2020 at 6:59 amOh the lower temperature sounds like a brilliant hack! Does it come out fluffier or just moist-ier?

April 4, 2020 at 9:13 amIt makes it much more moist and the crust is not as hard! Just a softer bread all together.
